Mini-Documentary: Once a Flutist Festival

For two days in March 2017, flutists young and old converged on CU Boulder for the Once a Flutist Festival. Including master classes with Sir James and Lady Jeanne Galway, panels and recitals, the once-in-a-lifetime event was a reminder that if you’re once a flutist… you’re always a flutist.

One of the coolest parts about this whole festival is
0:11
the idea of coming together as a community
0:13
And not only getting to engage with other people who
0:15
love to play the flute, but some alumni, and getting to
0:18
engage with some incredible people.
0:20
We are gathering the Galways: Sir James and Lady Galway
0:24
Icons of the flute, to share their incredible music
0:28
and their incredible legacy.
0:31
This is an opportunity for all of us interior flutists
0:36
to come together in celebration.
0:39
It doesn’t matter what level you are, or how long you’ve
0:42
played the flute, or how long ago it was,
0:43
playing the flute brings us all together, and it’s just this
0:46
massive celebration of music.
0:50
It’s beautiful that it makes sense to the rest of the
0:52
musicians as well, you can remember that if you’ve
0:55
even been a musician, it can always stay a part of your life.
