David Corbus
Dave Corbus, instructor of jazz guitar, has over 30 years of professional experience in music. This experience includes playing on the New York City music scene for 12 years with artists such as Chico Hamilton and in trio settings with New York bass players Ira Coleman and Essiet Essiet, as well as in New York blues/funk/jazz band Business of Blues. Mr. Corbus and his trio played weekly at the jazz club Augies in New York City (now named Smoke) from 1986-1988. Dave has a bachelors degree in music from New York University. Since coming to the Denver area in 1993, he has played with a variety of well known jazz musicians such as Red Holloway, Dr. Lonnie Smith, Plas Johnson, Lewis Nash, Javon Jackson, Bobby Watson, and Joey DeFrancesco, and his trio has played at Denver’s finest jazz clubs and at Colorado’s favorite music festivals. His first CD, Trios Time, on the Synergy label, was met with successful praise from critics both here and in New York. New York’s Cadence Magazine said “Corbus displays sensitivity and fluidity in his conception.” His latest CD, 3ocity, with Pat Bianchi on organ and Todd Reid on drums, was released in October, 2005 on Capri Records.
