Mattie McGarey
Mattie McGarey is Colorado native currently pursuing a BFA in dance at the University of Colorado Boulder. She specializes in improvisation and contemporary dance with an interest in linking her second degree in philosophy with her choreography and movement. During her time as an undergraduate, Mattie has been recognized for her performance and choreographic skill and awarded multiple scholarships including the Talent and Creativity scholarship and the Redmond scholarship. In the Colorado community, she has had the opportunity to choreograph and perform for Denver Diggs Deeper, Global Water Dances, the Boulder Jazz Dance Workshop, and The Schiff Dance Collective. Mattie’s research is focused mainly on the philosophy of fear, quasi-human movement, and how ambiguity forces us to question our perceptions of reality.
