Shirley Carnahan

Shirley Carnahan, a life-long bardaholic, is a firm believer in the marriage of studying and performing Shakespeare. She has a PhD in medieval drama, teaches in the Humanities Program at the University of Colorado, and has been involved with the Colorado Shakespeare Festival every year since 1977. She is a charter member of the Boulder Renaissance Consort, a founding member of the Shakespeare Oratorio Society, has been on the Higher Education Advisory Council at the Denver Center Theatre Company since its inception, and is a member of the Medieval and Renaissance Drama Society. An avid fan of collaboration, she has particularly enjoyed organizing the numerous Spring into Shakespeare events, which promote the Colorado Shakespeare Festival by involving faculty from various departments in the College of Arts and Sciences and the College of Music. Her publication From Women’s Eyes, a compilation of speeches by Shakespeare’s female characters, is due out this fall.
