2019 Colorado Shakespeare Festival Audition Announcement
Thank you for your interest in auditioning for the Colorado Shakespeare Festival. At this time, we are no longer taking submissions for the 2019 season. Please check back in September of 2019 for details concerning the 2020 season.
If you already submitted your audition materials, please see the remaining important audition dates for summer 2019.
CSF will hold live initial auditions each season in Boulder and Denver, Colorado, in addition to now considering video auditions from qualified candidates.
Plays being produced in our 2019 season will be announced on Oct. 29, 2018. Please visit our homepage on that date for a complete list of productions.
CSF hires AEA actors on two- and three-show contracts and non-AEA actors on one-, two- and three-show contracts.
Important dates for 2019 auditions
At this time we are no longer taking audition request for the 2019 season. Invitations to attend the live initial auditions or submit a video audition will be sent out starting on Monday, Oct. 22, 2018. An assigned audition slot and/or further instructions will also be sent out at this time.
Friday, Nov. 9 — Deadline to submit a video audition is 5 p.m. MST. Late submissions will not be accepted.
Friday, Nov. 9 — BOULDER CU Student initial auditions (3 p.m. to 5 p.m., by assigned appointment): Department of Theatre & Dance Seminar Room (C342), University of Colorado Boulder Theatre & Dance Building, Boulder, CO, 80309.
Sunday, Nov. 11 — DENVER Non-AEA initial auditions (9 a.m. to 5 p.m., by assigned appointment): Denver University Department of Theatre, Johnson McFarlane Hall (JMAC), 1903 East Iliff Avenue, Denver, CO 80210. Room TBD.
Monday, Nov. 12 — DENVER AEA initial auditions (2 p.m. to 10 p.m., by assigned appointment): Denver University Department of Theatre, Johnson McFarlane Hall (JMAC), 1903 East Iliff Avenue, Denver, CO 80210. Room TBD.
For live initial auditions, please bring with you one (1) hard copy of your headshot and resume stapled together (back to back). For all initial auditions, please prepare two (2) contrasting classical monologues, no more than two (2) minutes in length total (each piece should not exceed 1 minute in duration). One (1) monologue must be comedic, one (1) should be dramatic, and at least one of the two should be Shakespeare.
CSF is interested in a variety of skills required of our productions and request that your resume clearly reflect your competency in the following areas:
- Dialect ability and fluency in languages other than English
- Stage combat and/or fight training experience
- Singing training and experience (jazz, folk, opera, choral, non-western, etc.)
- Acrobatic and/or dance experience
- Musical instrument proficiencies
CU acting internships
CSF will consider all THDN undergraduate students who audition for the 2019 season as an applicant for a CU Acting Internship. Students must be currently enrolled at the University of Colorado Boulder for Academic Year 2018/2019 (AY18/19). Please follow the above instructions to receive an audition appointment for Friday, Nov. 9 to be considered for an internship.
Live callbacks will be held in Boulder, CO on the University of Colorado Boulder campus on Dec. 2 and 3, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Notifications of a callback—both live and video—will be sent via email (with sides) starting Nov. 16. The deadline for video callbacks is Friday, Nov. 30, 2018 by 5 p.m. MST.
