Join us for a pre-concert talk with Caitlin Stokes, violin for a deeper look behind this evening's Artist Series performance. Plus, getting to the venue early means having first-pick of the best parking around Macky Auditorium

Pre-concert lectures take place across the street from Macky Auditorium in the Old Main Chapel and end with ample time for patrons to find their seats for the concert. Seating is limited and late seating is allowed at the discretion of front of house management.

Caitlin Stokes is currently pursuing her Doctorate of Musical Arts in Violin Performance at CU Boulder under the instruction of Charles Wetherbee. In the spring of 2017, she graduated with her Master’s of Music degree from CU Boulder. She also holds a position as a student assistant on the College of Music Advancement Team and is dedicated to aiding the College of Music’s vision.

Her passion for chamber music was fostered during her undergraduate degree at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music (CCM). There her string quartet, won the CCM Chamber Music Competition. They were invited as well to be a fellowship quartet at the Festival de Inverno Campos do Jordao in Brazil, and the fellowship quartet for the Accent12 summer program in Cincinnati. She has also performed in masterclasses and worked with chamber music artists such as The Takacs Quartet, The Tokyo String Quartet, The Ying Quartet, The Ariel Quartet, and Vogler String Quartet.

Caitlin has attended numerous summer festivals in the U.S., including Bowdoin International Music Festival, the National Orchestral Institute, Boston University Tanglewood Institute, Interlochen Arts Summer Program, and Indiana University Summer String Program. Her summer studies have also taken her abroad to Brazil at the Festival de Inverno Campos do Jordao and to CCM Spoleto in Italy. In the summer of 2017, she was chosen as one of eight violin soloists at the Lake City String Academy where she performed in masterclasses, concerts, and outreach performances. She has also played for violinists Martin Beaver, Ed Dusinberre, Karoly Schranz, Giora Schmidt, James Buswell, Mikhail Kopelman, Ani Schnarch, Annie Chalex-Boyle, and Brian Lewis.

Outside of her studies, Caitlin has played in many different orchestras. She is currently a member of the Boulder Symphony and held a position with the Richmond Symphony Orchestra- Indiana. She also played with the Lexington Philharmonic and Ohio Valley Symphony. During the summer, she has been invited to play with the McCall Music Festival Orchestra and the Lake Tahoe Music Festival. When she is not performing, practicing, or working with the CU Boulder Advancement team, Caitlin enjoys hiking, finding the best iced coffee, and spending time with her cats.
