Percussion Ensemble (2017)

The CU Percussion Ensemble performs a variety of works from multiple backgrounds including taiko drumming, classical string ensembles and pop-influenced minimalism, all arranged for the exciting and soothing percussive soundscape. With a mix of old and new, the program offers something interesting in every piece, including the premiere of Zachary Patten’s "Oracle," a solo piece with visual accompaniment. The concert features performers from the CU Percussion Studio, under the direction of Ryan Pride and assisted by Taylor Edwards, and Chris Martin, who premieres Patten's piece.

PROGRAM: Ian Briskey: "Continuum"; Ivan Trevino: "Bloom"; Thom Gauger: "Gainsborough"; Zachary Patten: "Oracle"; Francisco Perez: "Nalu"; "Tetsuro Naito, arr. Jeffery Crowell: "Nanfushi"; Gustav Holst, arr. Eric Martin: "St. Paul's Suite"; H. E. Firestone: "The Drummer's Farewell"
