Music can serve as an expression of human experience, be it individual or collective. It can also reflect the personal or societal circumstances of the composer: Heartbreak, conflict and war have all led to the creation of powerful works of art. In the final Faculty Tuesdays concert of 2019, pianist Alexandra Nguyen and her faculty colleagues present works that are inspired by conflict—from internal strife to the two world wars—and that celebrate the resilience of the human spirit.
