Theatrical magic has been closely associated with music since the eighteenth century. Jessie Fillerup, Associate Professor of Music at the University of Richmond, will lead us through the history of music's role in magic shows, including techniques of misdirection and entrainment. This fascinating overview ranges from nineteenth-century magicians such as Jean-Eugène Robert-Houdin to music in current theatrical magic.
