Gabriela Lena Frank is a prestigious composer and pianist with a multicultural heritage: Peruvian/Chinese descent on her mother’s side and Lithuanian/Jewish descent on her father’s side. Her multiracial identity is reflected in her music and her experiences traveling in South America. In 2017, The Washington Post included her in a shortlist of the most significant composers in history; she's also been nominated for Grammys as both a composer and a pianist.
