Working, A Musical

"By using words and music to examine the relationship of people to their jobs, (Working) paints a fascinating picture of a side of America too often taken for granted."—DC Theater Arts

Adapted by Stephen Schwartz and Nina Faso
with additional contributions by Gordon Greenberg
Songs by Craig Carnelia, Micki Grant, Lin Manuel Miranda, Mary Rodgers and Susan Birkenhead, Stephen Schwartz and James Taylor
Presented through special arrangement with Music Theatre International

Based on Studs Terkel's best-selling book of interviews with American workers, "Working" celebrates the unsung heroes of everyday life: the schoolteacher, the phone operator, the waitress, the millworker, the mason and the housewife, just to name a few. This classic has been updated for a modern age, featuring new songs by Tony Award-winning Lin-Manuel Miranda, as well as favorites by Stephen Schwartz, Craig Carnelia, James Taylor, Micki Grant, and more.

"Working, A Musical" is the 2023-24 Roe Green Production. The CU Boulder Department of Theatre & Dance is grateful to donor Roe Green. The Roe Green Visiting Theatre Artist fund allows them to invite professional guest artists to campus each year to work with students.
