Tenor saxophonist Pete Lewis is featured on two Latin jazz-fusion pieces by Roland Vazquez, but the focus is on CU Boulder's marimba ensembles, since they will perform at the McCormick Marimba Festival in Tampa in January. Dan Levitan's classic Marimba Quartet, a movement from Dvořák's "American" String Quartet and marimba solos by the ensemble's members round out the evening.
The CU Percussion Ensemble celebrates percussion by exploring the great works of the repertoire ranging from duos to large conducted works, improvising in jazz and free styles, and featuring students as soloists in every concert.
