Mark Adamo, famous for his opera “Little Women” and “The Gospel of Mary Magdalene” at San Francisco Opera, returns this summer with his latest work, “Sarah in the Theatre.”

He recalls of his last CU NOW workshop: “Leigh Holman and CU NOW—which, I’ve long said, is the best acronym in the business—offered me their sterling singers, their flexible space, their faultless professionalism and their unstinting artistic support when I revised and directed a new version of ‘The Gospel of Mary Magdalene’ in 2016; it utterly transformed the piece, and I’ll be forever grateful for the opportunity and the experience. Here’s affirming many more years of fruitful operatic work by CU NOW.”

By the time an opera production hits the floorboards, composers and performers have spent years transforming theatrical ideas and music for the stage. The CU New Opera Workshop (CU NOW) gives you the rare opportunity to observe this process and share your suggestions with the composers. Join CU performers and the titans of opera for this one-of-a-kind event!
