CU Symphony Orchestra

In 1956, Irene Britton Smith completed her master's of music in composition. She was a dedicated educator in the Chicago Public School system, only stealing time to compose during her summers or rare sabbaticals. Sadly, her thesis composition, "Sinfonietta," has never been played or heard by the public. As a result of manuscripts from the Helen Walker-Hill Collection, the CU Symphony Orchestra will present the first performance of Smith's "Sinfonietta." Also featured on the program will be Emilie Mayer’s "Faust-Ouverture" and Jean Sibelius’ "Symphony No. 2 in D Major."

From orchestras, bands and choirs to jazz, world music and opera to world-class faculty and guest performances, the CU Boulder College of Music brings hundreds of stunning performances to Boulder audiences throughout the academic year.
