The recent social and racial upheaval in this country brought a much-needed self-examination by performing arts and higher educational institutions on diversity, equity and inclusion. The search for identity and belonging is an issue that Asian musicians continue to wrestle with today, yet the “model minority” is often overlooked in these discussions. Join our Roser Visiting Guest, award-winning composer Alexina Louie, in what is sure to be a thought-provoking and energetic conversation about navigating Asian identity in Western classical music, moderated by Julia Shizuyo Popham.
From orchestras, bands and choirs to jazz, world music and opera to world-class faculty and guest performances, the CU Boulder College of Music brings hundreds of stunning performances to Boulder audiences throughout the academic year.
