Juniper Winds is the Graduate Woodwind Quintet at CU Boulder. This recital explores the history of contemporary Western music through the lens of a year. The concert will begin with a wintery arrangement of Johann Sebastian Bach’s Fugue in G minor (1709) to signify the year’s start. Spring’s arrival is represented by the sound of bird calls and snowmelt in Giuseppe Verdi’s “La forza del destino” (1862) and Jeff Scott’s Startin’ Sumthin’ (2012). The seasons will change through Samuel Barber’s Summer Music (1953).
This concert will feature the following performers: Sophie Maeda, oboe; Natalie Trejo, flute; Yi Dong, clarinet; Madison Triplett, bassoon; and Max Braun, horn.
From orchestras, bands and choirs to jazz, world music and opera to world-class faculty and guest performances, the CU Boulder College of Music brings hundreds of stunning performances to Boulder audiences throughout the academic year.
