From the firebird myth, vividly portrayed in Igor Stravinsky’s epic suite from his ballet, “The Firebird,”; to the opulent portrait of King Solomon by Ernest Bloch in his evocative work for solo cello and orchestra, “Schelomo,”; to Valerie Coleman’s striking work, “Seven O’Clock Shout,” describing the nightly tribute to first responders in New York City during the COVID pandemic—you won’t want to miss this program. Recent alumnus Louis Saxton (BM ’24, cello)—undergraduate winner of the College of Music’s concerto competition—is the featured soloist on “Schelomo.”
The CU Boulder Symphony Orchestra performs a diverse repertoire, including symphonies and large-scale orchestral works by major composers, at Macky Auditorium.
From orchestras, bands and choirs to jazz, world music and opera to world-class faculty and guest performances, the CU Boulder College of Music brings hundreds of stunning performances to Boulder audiences throughout the academic year.
