The Early Music Ensemble of the College of Music's Historical Performance area will explore a variety of chamber and orchestral works through the lens of instrumentation and timbre. From François Couperin's Leçon de Ténèbres (second lesson) for solo soprano and continuo to Johann Sebastian Bach's Orchestral Suite in B minor and operatic dances by Jean-Philippe Rameau, this program is a journey through style, form and color as French forms spread across Europe to shape what were known as the "Goûts-réunis" (styles reunited).
