The Medina/Corbus band premiers a set of original compositions co-composed by CU Boulder jazz faculty Jocelyn Medina (voice) and Dave Corbus (guitar). Medina's style crosses cultures, creeds and continents; her original music fuses elements of Brazil, Spain, Africa and India with jazz harmonies, neosoul/funk grooves and adventurous improvisations. Corbus' style crosses many boundaries as well, and is steeped in the blues and mainstream jazz/avant-garde.
Together, they've created a set of original music that transcends musical boundaries and takes the listener on a journey from the soulful and lyrical side to the energetic and explosive. Filling out their all-star quartet are jazz bass and drum faculty Bijoux Barbosa and Paul Romaine.
