Americanism as Musical Strategy
In "Americanism as Musical Strategy: From Pan Americanism to Latin Americanism," Dr. Eduardo Herrera from Rutgers University reveals how graduates of the Centro Latinoamericano de Altos Estudios Musicales (CLAEM 1962–1971) in Buenos Aires, Argentina, mobilized a shared discourse of Latin Americanism as a professional strategy and as musical style to position themselves within the classical music tradition. This event is presented by the American Music Research Center.
