Join us for an eclectic program designed to inspire your thinking about the overlap between the human voice and the voice of the oboe. This recital will showcase the vocal-like qualities of the oboe across various genres. In Amilcare Ponchielli's Capriccio, the oboe takes on the role of coloratura soprano. The English horn sings in an aria from Johann Sebastian Bach’s B Minor Mass, with the oboe as the obligato partner. In the Charles Martin Loeffler 4 Poèmes, the oboe takes the soprano part in a duet with the clarinet. Additionally, the concert will feature a genuine soprano who will perform jazz, blues, and collaborate with an oboe and electric guitar.
Renowned CU Boulder College of Music faculty artists perform with students and colleagues in chamber music recitals featuring world premieres and beloved classics. Join us for this free series in person at Grusin Music Hall or via livestream most Tuesdays August through March.
