From Brazilian Samba (raucous) to expressive Bach (intimate), from red-hot new student compositions to jazz standards, from minimalist subtleties to challenging counterpoint—this concert will ring you through a variety of changes, styles, instrumentation (even flute) and GA-ROOOOVE! Featuring the CU Boulder Brazilian Bateria Ensemble, Latin Percussion Ensemble and Percussion Ensemble.

The Brazilian Bateria Ensemble performs traditional and contemporary rhythms from the samba schools, blocos and percussion bands of Brazil. The Latin Percussion Ensemble performs Cuban and Brazilian jazz music, choro, mambo and more on mallet percussion, drum set, congas and hand percussion, featuring improvisation. The Percussion Ensemble celebrates percussion by exploring the great works of the repertoire, ranging from duos to large conducted works, improvising in jazz and free styles, and featuring students as soloists in every concert.

From orchestras, bands and choirs to jazz, world music and opera to world-class faculty and guest performances, the CU Boulder College of Music brings hundreds of stunning performances to Boulder audiences throughout the academic year.
