Join the Philharmonia Orchestra for an evening celebrating brilliance. Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was only eighteen when he composed his elegant and masterful Symphony No. 29 in A Major. L. Viola Kinney was also only eighteen when she composed her only surviving work, "Mother’s Sacrifice," now arranged for orchestra.
Also featured in this program is Johann Sebastian Bach's "Air" from his Orchestral Suite No. 3 as well as "O Magnum Mysterium: In Memoriam Glenn Gould" by visiting composer in residence Alexina Louie. In her own words, Louie says, “this piece is my expression of wonder at the mysteries of music, of the universe and of being an artist, as well as an expression of grief over the premature death of a great musician.”
This concert is dedicated to the memory of Professor Charles Wetherbee.
From orchestras, bands and choirs to jazz, world music and opera to world-class faculty and guest performances, the CU Boulder College of Music brings hundreds of stunning performances to Boulder audiences throughout the academic year.
