Symphony Orchestra

Amy Beach’s first symphony, the “Gaelic Symphony,” was a massive milestone in women’s music as she became the first American woman to compose and publish a symphony. Our featured soloist will be Dawna Rae Warren, winner of the graduate division of the Honors Competition, singing Richard Strauss’ beautiful Brentano Lieder, Op. 68. The program will begin with Franz Schubert’s elegant Overture in the Italian Style in C major.

The CU Boulder Symphony Orchestra performs a diverse repertoire, including symphonies and large-scale orchestral works by major composers, at Macky Auditorium. From orchestras, bands and choirs to jazz, world music and opera to world-class faculty and guest performances, the CU Boulder College of Music brings hundreds of stunning performances to Boulder audiences throughout the academic year.
