CU Boulder Symphony Orchestra
CU Boulder at 150!
This first program of the season has something for everyone! As we celebrate the University of Colorado Boulder at 150, we begin with Suite No. 2 from Manuel de Falla's ballet, "The Three-Cornered Hat." De Falla, born in 1876—the same year that CU Boulder was founded—brings irresistible Spanish dance rhythms to the stage in this contagious work. Next we'll feature one of the College of Music's own—composer Annika Socolofsky—performing as her queer country alter ego, EmmyJean Jenkins, in selections from her comedic country cabaret and groundbreaking contemporary composition, "Detective Convention." The program ends with Sergei Prokofiev's powerful masterwork and tour de force for orchestra, his Symphony No. 5.
