Bach + Beyond

CU Boulder Chamber Singers, Seicento Baroque Ensemble + Monarch High School Madrigals

The CU Boulder Chamber Singers team up with the Seicento Baroque Ensemble and Monarch High School Madrigals to present "Bach and Beyond" tracing a direct line of Bach's predecessors going back four generations and continuing the legacy forward into the 21st century. To honor this repertoire, we have invited Georg Grün from Saarbrücken, Germany, who specializes in the German Baroque, Romantic and modern eras, and is also a composer in his own right.

Program highlights include J.S. Bach's motet masterpiece "Jesu, Meine Freude" as well as Johannes Brahms' tribute to early music "O Heiland reiß, die Himmel auf" and Grün's composition "Veni"—all directed by our guest conductor. The concert will also feature a solo set by the Monarch High School Madrigals under the direction of Kate Klotz as well as a selection by Seicento's new professional choir, Sirene. All choirs will combine for closing works conducted by Grün.

This event features: CU Boulder Chamber Singers, Coreen Duffy, conductor; Georg Grün, guest conductor; Seicento Baroque Ensemble; Sirene Professional Choir; Monarch High School Madrigals, Kate Klotz, conductor; Jerimiah Owens, organ; Ann Marie Morgan, viola da gamba.
